Wir sind super gut gelandet und wurden so herzlich willkommen geheißen, als würden wir schon ewig dazugehören! Erster Eindruck: Viva Colombia! In Medellín fühle ich mich rundum wohl und Iris und ich stellen immer mehr fest, dass wir ein sehr harmonisches Reiseteam sind.
Wir haben heute gleich Zutritt zum Bellavista Gefängnis bekommen, um uns einen Überblick über die Ausstattung der zwei Backstuben zu verschaffen, in denen wir in den kommenden Wochen verschiedenen Häftlingsgruppen u.a. Flachswickel und Lebkuchen schmackhaft machen werden ;) Wie das mit den lokalen Zutaten und meinem noch sehr ausbaufähigem Spanisch klappen wird, bleibt abzuwarten. Aber ich war positiv überrascht von der guten Ausstattung und berührt von der Motivation der Jungs, Neues zu lernen und mir alles so gut wie möglich zu zeigen und zu erklären. Die friedliche und nahezu freundschaftliche Stimmung in den Gängen, in denen in den letzten Jahrzehnten so viel Gewalt und Gemetzel herrschte, zeugt von tatsächlicher Hoffnung und Versöhnung, was ich diesem gebeutelten Land so sehr wünsche.

After a smooth trip we landed safely and got such a warm welcome that we felt instantly at home. First impresson: Viva Colombia! I love the vibe of Medellín and Iris and I are so happy to be on this trip together, as we realize we make a perfect travelling team.
Today, we got access to Bellavista prison to get a first impression of the setup of the bakeries we'll be spending the next two weeks in, showing different groups of inmates how to produce German specialities. We'll see how this is going to work out with the local ingredients and my rather rusty Spanish. But I was impressed by the quite good equipment and touched by the enthusiasm of the guys to learn new things and to show me around and assist. The peaceful and almost friendly atmosphere in the corridors that have seen so much violence and massacre over the past decades, tells of real hope and reconciliation. Things I deeply wish on this beautiful country.
